Remodeling Growth to Hit 12% As Spending Accelerates, Harvard University Reports

Remodeling Growth

Kitchen remodeling business Kitchen Solvers in strong shape as Harvard predicts accelerated spending growth

The good news is getting even better for those in the remodeling industry: After predicting 5.9 percent growth in remodeling activity through the end of 2012, Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies now says it expects growth to accelerate — reaching double digits by early 2013.

“The combination of low financing costs, stronger consumer confidence, improving home sales and the perception that home prices have stabilized in most markets across the country are encouraging owners to start working on the list of home improvement projects they have been putting off,” Kermit Baker, director of the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center, said in a news release.

The institute’s Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity index predicts the 5.9 percent growth in 2012 will jump to 12.2 percent growth in the first quarter of 2013. That forecast makes it an especially good time to start a remodeling business, particularly a tightly focused remodeling businesses like Kitchen Solvers.
